Merdeka, The Unsung Heroes

As a tribute to the unsung song heroes who fought for Malayan independence I am posting a video of the award winning producer Fahmi Reza, who won the Freedom Film Festival 2007.The film titled “Sepuluh tahun sebelum Merdeka” focused on the multi ethnic political coalition and depicted the events leading to the 1947 nationwide Hartal or national strike, inspired by the Indian independence movement. This documentary will never been shown in our main stream media, which will kill the myth about Umno.
The British were more comfortable dealing with the docile Umno, a party of the royalty and the Malay Aristocratic Anglophiles rather than the political parties which were dominated by grassroots movements like PUTERA-AMCJA which was the first multiracial Alliance to spread the thought of Merdeka among the people.
