In 1981 when I was working in one of the Dam project for a Japanese concern in upper Perak River, The first thing Dr Mahathir did when he became the forth Prime Minister was the correction of the thirty minutes time difference and the unification of the Time zone between East and Peninsula Malaysia.
We were overwhelmed by this sudden positive change, as we were already regimented to the strict discipline and workaholic style of the Japanese’s, we welcomed as the entire nation did, that someone has come to kick start and reenergize the nation, to awaken the people from the long slumber and arrest the country’s economic stagnation, high level of poverty and unemployment. But all this euphoria was only shot lived. But when he left the premiership; he left one of the most corrupted, mismanaged, racialists, and become like one typical despotic third world leader, tarnishing, demonizing sacking his Deputy Prime Minister with the worst unimagined, immoral charges. Losing whatever semblance of credibility he had in world arena.
But with all the physical development mushrooming up Dr. M started the decay and dismantling of the nation’s founding principles, he proceeded to dismantle one by one the institution which was build and nourished before, Rule of Law and the Separations of Power, and showed his invincibility and political prowess and started expounding his dictatotorial style of rule. His twenty two years of rule ended in 2003, when Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took over the helm of the leadership, he left a legacy of economic stagnation, corruption and nepotism for his successor to suffer.
The judiciary was hijacked for his political expediency, Judges were expelled and tainted, and the police became his private security organization, in arresting and intimidating his political opponents. No deputy Prime Ministers survived under him; Musa HItam, Ghafar Baba and Anwar, all succumbed to his oligarchic rule. The latter was subjected to the cruelest, immoral, eviction from his position as Deputy Prime Minister, convicted like a criminal for some fictitious charges, tortured and bashed in Police Lock Up like a common criminal by the Inspector General of Police himself, which made the black eye famous, as the symbol of oppression throughout the world.
It’s not that he is intolerant to any immoral or any corrupt practices, it’s just the enigma of selective persecutions, he allowed a Chief Minister from the historical state on accusation of statuary rape scot free, but the one who issued statements condemning this heinous crime was charged under Sedition Act and send to jail, together with young underage victim to a rehabilitation center. This is the action of a great custodian of morality. As it turns out the child molester doomed to political oblivion, and the person who fought for an underage girl and went to jailed is now the respected Chief Minister of Penang; that’s law of nature, or it is Newton’s third law. Ministers caught for khalwat or close proximity were allowed to go free. Ministers raping maids, ministers breaching women in clubs are rewarded with lucrative postings overseas to become ambassadors to some important countries.
When Tun Badawi became the fifth Prime Minister, the country was overjoyed; at last the parasitical nepotistic rule of him has ended, and gave Badawi the biggest unprecedented electoral victory in history. But it was only shot lived, his release of Anwar; when higher courts found him not guilty, the rejection and cancellation of the crooked bridge to replace the existing causeway .And not heeding is advice in many of the economic policies and project given to his crony’s company, left behind by him, made him vengeful and vindictive by the unleashing of merciless catapulting of propaganda in dehumanizing and tarnishing and degrading him, his vendetta stopped only after the biggest defeat of BN in the 2008 electoral tsunami and the subsequent removal of him with the complicity of Najib and Muhyideen.
TDM proofed his mantle again, ‘you don’t play the fool with me, I can bring down any one, If you don’t follow my way’ became the new all powerful puppeteer, keeping PM Najib under his thump, he made sure his son a defeated candidate, in Umno youth election is made Deputy Minister bypassed the victor Khairy Jamaludin reason, purported corruption of Badawi’ son in law, I do not know when Umno become such a clean puritanical utopian party, talking of clean candidates, ‘show me a morally upright politician in Umno, I will show you a chaste prostitute’.
TDM has strengthen his hold and influence in PM Najib rule. Now our Pm is just dishing out mega projects to favorite companies as what was the norm during TDM reigns. The Sodomy Two is being staged managed, and being played with screenplay and some characters changed courtesy of earlier play, which failed miserably then, and now with characters fortified and strengthened and to assure a foul proof drama to hit the box office. To enhance the Sodomy two scripts TDM has written some pages in his latest memoir.
He will join the fascist Perkosa or any devil organization to make sure that his personal agenda is fulfilled. To make sure his children’s and cronies investments are taken care, entities like Kenchana are well oiled, and his dream of a dynasty are fulfilled, now moving his cards carefully so that his son become the next MB of Kedah.. And if necessary if the Sodomy two, screws up, he will be bready to stage another super duper Sodomy three, and also release another memoir demeaning Anwar with fifty pages.
