The Gathering of the’ Million faithful’ and Umno’s failed dream.

A gathering organized by three thousand NGO’s by the Himpunan Sejuta Umat (Himpun) by Himpunan Pertubuhan Penubahan Islam, dispite heavy publicity over the week, barely 5,000 Malaysian Muslims turned up at the 100,000-seater Shah Alam Stadium near Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd October for a rally to denounce alleged attempts to convert Muslims.PAS the Islamic party in the Pakatan coalition has distanced itself from this malignant gathering, once again escaped from the trap of Umno, which is out to lure PAS and break Pakatan Rakyat. Umno’s mole Hasan Ali the Selangor State Exco for religious affairs is the expected exception who openly defied the standing of his party. The PAS youth chief Nasrudin Hassan who earlier vowed to attend the gathering saved PAS of any embarrassment by not participating in the rally, but kept himself  busy with Elton John, and how it’s against his aqidah and puritanical Islam and save the  Ummah against homosexuality.

The Bersih rally which was brutally suppressed, with the banning of Bersih and yellow T shirt, the arrest of activists under various draconian laws, the massing of thousands of riot police, water cannons, tear gas, the demonizing of Bersih organizers by the government through their quasi fascist organization like Perkasa, the propagation of thrash by Main Stream Media discrediting Bersih;  did not kill the aspiration of fifty thousand Malaysians to gather in the streets of Kuala Lumpur to seek justice. But even the PDRM’s benevolence of issuing of Police permit, which as usual acted like a private security organization of Umno, and the governments discreet support thorough their propaganda machine TV3, Utusan Malaysia and other media only mobilized five thousand people at stadium Shah Alam, with all the cash, nasi bungkus and transportation thrown in as  a package. What a shame. What a sham. The whole anti apostasy gathering proved without doubt that our fellow Muslim Malay citizens has rejected the Umno racialists and religious agenda.
The Prime Minister Najib under threat from his own party, with his shallow rhetoric’s and his contridictory stand he takes on national issues regarding race relation and religion, has lost all credibility and sence of balance  as Prime Minister. And his latest statement regarding the Himpunan rally will only drive the people away from him. His comment that the Himpunan Rally was more orderly than the Bersih rally, smack of a mediocrity and odium, and it’s an insult to injury and good sense.

Umno has failed miserably in their latest fiasco, to prove their relevance to the Malay Muslim population. Umno’s hatching of conspiracy theory of Christian threat and to bring about religious hate and enmity among the people only backfired against them. The Himpunan rally is the litmus test of Umno, which proved beyond doubt that the matured Malay Muslims, would not succumb to the false conspiratory theory and the delirium of religion. With millions of ringgit spent on creating a false hope and to demand how people must think as what they want them to think has failed miserably. It’s now square one.Umno is now in their last journey to their self destruction.
